Sample Itinerary for a One Week Visit to Richmont Inn

Friday Afternoon:

  • Arrive at Richmont Inn

  • Take a tour & walk the grounds

  • Enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine (BYOB) on your private balcony

  • 6:30 enjoy fondue dinner & dessert at the Richmont Inn Cove Cafe

  • Retire to room and enjoy spa tub, fireplace or balcony and plan the next day

Saturday:

  • 9:15 am full breakfast in dining room

  • Orientation Day to relax and drive in the Smokey Mountains to Newfound Gap & Walk to Clingman's Dome

  • Visit Sugarland Visitor Center & view video

  • Hike to Laurel Falls (2 miles round trip)

  • Relax and enjoy the day

Sunday:

  • 8:30 am breakfast in dining room

  • Enjoy a brisk morning walk on the Nature Trail at Richmont Inn

  • 10:00 am pick up picnic and drive to Cades Cove

  • Hike Abram's Falls (5 miles round trip)

  • Picnic at the Falls

  • Complete loop trail tour of Cades Cove

  • Drive the Tremont Road and find a pull-over with big rock on Middle Prong River

  • Sit and listen to the stream

  • Enjoy spa bath at the Inn to soothe and relax muscles.

  • Candlelight dinner and dessert.

Monday:

  • 8:30 am breakfast

  • 9:30 Hike to Gregory Bald (9 miles round trip)

  • Return to inn and enjoy spa bath to soothe muscles

  • Balcony basket dinner delivered to your room

  • Enjoy evening candlelight dessert in dining room.

Tuesday:

  • 8:30 am breakfast at the Inn

  • Drive to Biltmore Estate & Gardens - Asheville, NC

  • Lunch at the Stables & Tour Gardens & Winery - (at the Biltmore

  • Have an early dinner at the Grove Park Inn (make advance reservations)

  • Return to Inn for candlelight dessert.

Wednesday

  • Request in advance an 8:00 am continental breakfast for early departure from the Inn to Cades Cove.

  • 8:45 am - Rent bicycles and ride the 11-mile loop road. 

  • Drive to Gatlinburg on Little River Road 

  • Have lunch at the Brass Lantern (be sure to order their homemade soup)

  • Walk the Gatlinburg strip and visit the Arrowmont School Gift Shop (operated by the Southern Highland Guild), the Rampant Lion (Western and Native American Art), and visit Beneath the Smoke Nature Store.

  • Dinner at the either The Park Grille or The Peddler Restaurant

  • Return to the Inn via Little River Road.

Thursday:

  • 8:30 am breakfast in the dining room

  • 10:00 am - Drive to Tremont and hike The Falls trail (1 1/2 miles).

  • Enjoy the big flat rocks on Middle Prong stream.  

  • Enjoy the day to relax in the Smokies and have a leisurely lunch

  • Visit the Galleries and Craft Shops in Townsend

Enjoy the last day of your leisure and no schedule!
